According to Jay Clayton from the SEC, “every ICO I’ve seen is a security.” This raises the question then, what does this mean for the future of ICOs?
Regulations are being brought into place by the SEC to help control the security token market. Because of this, security tokens offer a potentially safer alternative to traditional crypto investments and utility tokens, which are currently unregulated. The stability and security that is offered by asset-backed security tokens gives investors a token that has substance and backing by a real world asset.
Most tokens should in fact be classified as a security, rather than a utility, meaning we’ll likely see more and ore tokens changing throughout the year in order to avoid costly legal implications.

Can you really spend $50 million?
In a word, yes. We’re buying houses and writing loans which is a capital intensive business. Our average purchase price per property is approximately $175,000. Additionally, our lending division requires significant capital to fund its loan originations. Right now, our system analyzes over 3,000 properties per day and even if we were to buy two of those properties per day, that would still require more than $40 million of capital per year.
We built this company, our infrastructure and team to manage billions of dollars worth of assets. We see tremendous opportunity in our core markets and have created the infrastructure and have the senior management team in place to manage and grow this business at significant scale.
We want to be measured and responsible in the growth of this platform. This is our business and our livelihood and Aperture is going to be around for a long time to come. How do I profit from PCX?
Each Property Coin represents a fractional ownership of the economic interest in the portfolio of fix and flip properties and loans held by the Property Coin holding entities. By reinvesting 100% of the net profits from the property and loan investments made, the underlying Net Asset Value (“NAV”) should increase over time and as such, the per token share of that NAV should increase as well.
The intent of Property Coin is to provide investors with a stable, growing and asset backed token that can be held, or traded (subject to listing by exchanges) over time.
Is there a utility aspect of PCX?
At this time there is no utility application for PCX. We do have some ideas around the ability to purchase properties using PCX and other ecosystem add ons, and these concepts may or may not be developed over time based on the regulatory environment, legal restrictions, the amount of capital within this ecosystem as well as any number of unknown variables. Right now, PCX should be viewed as an investment security only.
